Here is a good story for all of you who have ever been asked why you are in the sport.
The other day, I told someone that I race motocross, and their reply was "Why would you be so stupid
to risk your life for a cheap piece of plastic?" And that got me thinking, Why Do We? And here is what I would say now that
I have thought about it. First off, that piece of plastic represents more than just finishing first place. It represents the
countless hours of time put into practicing, the sweat and blood, the broken bones, and most of all, not only is it the racers
trophy, but it is the families trophy. A first place trophy shows how well a family works together. It shows that they can
do whatever it takes to get the bike in top shape by working TOGETHER! How many other sports can your family be there and
work with you? NONE! That is why we cherish the sport, we are always with our family, and those who are not your family, become
your family. You are with them from 6am - 7pm every weekend. I think that motocross is alot more than people being
"insane" doing double backflips and all that, it is spending time with you family. And 30 years from that day, you probably
will be doing the same thing with your kids or grandkids. So at face falue, the faux marble and cheap plastic isn't worth
a dime, but factor in the sweat, blood, time, and the people who helped you earn that, and it is priceless. This, my friends,
is motocross.
